About Mr. Wilson

Christopher “Kip” Wilson has built his career around representing injured workers and ensuring they receive the benefits and protections they are entitled to under the law. As a partner at Rothermel & Wilson, PLLC, Mr. Wilson focuses his practice exclusively on New York State Workers’ Compensation matters, where he has earned a reputation for both his meticulous legal analysis and his compassionate approach to client advocacy.

Born and raised in Syracuse, Mr. Wilson graduated with Honors from Wesleyan University, obtained a masters in chemistry from Northwestern University, and earned his Juris Docterate degree from Cornell Law School. He worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office before moved to Oneonta, NY in 2004.

Since then, he has focused is work on representing injured workers, helping them navigate the complexities of the Workers’ Compensation system. He takes pride in not only fighting for his clients in court but also in building strong working relationships with them, guiding them step by step through the claims process, and ensuring they feel informed and supported. His approach combines rigorous legal strategy with genuine empathy, ensuring that his clients’ voices are heard and their rights protected.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Wilson is active in professional organizations dedicated to the rights of injured workers and has presented on topics related to Workers’ Compensation law, including the Injured Workers Bar Association.

Outside of the office, Mr. Wilson enjoys spending time with his family, exploring the outdoors, and supporting local community initiatives. His two children ages 15 and 13 attend the Oneonta School District, and his wife is a local teacher. He is a dedicated hiker; he has completed the Catskill 3500 both in the summer and winter, he has hiked every hiking trail in the Catskills, and summited the 100 highest public peaks in the Catskills. His is lifetime member of both the 3500 Club and the Catskill Mountain Club. He and his son are avid skiers – Mr. Wilson worked as a ski instructor while in high school and college. He is a member of the the First United Presbyterian Church in Oneonta.
