Scheduled Loss of Use (SLU) Calculator

Directions for using the SLU calculator are below:

  1. First, enter your date of accident (DOA) and average weekly wage (AWW) in the two orange cells in the upper left corner – cells D117 and D 118.
  2. Second, in the green cell (cell C121), enter your percentage of SLU.
    • Make sure you enter this as a %.
  3. Third, in the yellow cell (cell D121) select the body part for your SLU.
  4. Fourth, in the turquoise cell (cell J119) enter the amount you have been previously been paid in out of work and reduced benefits — this does not include what has been paid in medical benefits.
    • You can check how much you have been paid by logging into eCase.
      • Enter your WCB number where it says case ID. For most cases the starts with G followed by 7 numbers (eg. G1234567).
      • Click on the Tab that reads “SROI/FROI.”
      • Then click on the tab that reads “Cumulative Benefits, OBT’s, and Recoveries.”
      • The total amount you have been paid should be listed at the bottom “Total Amount Paid Column.” Please note, carrier often do not accurately report prior payments so this number could be inaccurate and if you are receiving ongoing payments, the total amount paid may not be up to date.
  5. If you were paid by your employer while you were out of work, your employer may be entitled to reimbursement for what they paid you out of your SLU award.
    • To account for this in the SLU calculations, enter the amount of employer total reimbursement amount in cell L119 and any reimbursement that has already been paid in cell N119.
  6. The amount of money moving to you (prior to any attorney fees) is listed under “Moving.”
  7. In rare cases, you might be entitled to additional benefits for what is called “protracted healing period” also known as PHP.
    • The SLU calculator will calculate if you are entitled to and protracted healing if you enter the total number of weeks you were award temporary total disability (TTD)by the judge.
    • To calculate PHP, enter the weeks of the number of weeks of TTD in the cell to the right of TT (cell G119)
      • In most cases, injured workers are not be entitled to any protracted healing.
      • In some situations where you have multiple injured body parts protracted healing may not be calculated properly.
  8. The calculate the SLU for multiple body parts enter the % of SLU and the body part in row 122.
